Fairfax's Más Masa Offers Fast Causal Chilean Fare

Healthy food in a fast casual atmosphere is gaining in popularity across the Bay Area. Más Masa opened at the end of November on Bolinas Road in Fairfax, serving dishes inspired by chef and owner Patrick Sheehy's two years in Chile.

As it's name suggests, Más Masa's menu features corn in every dish.  The corn grinder, used for making fresh, artisan and non-GMO corn tortillas, takes pride of place at the front door while the open 100% gluten free kitchen enables customers to experience the inner workings of meal preparation.

Sheehy is a recent graduate from the Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena, and did a stint with Thomas Keller’s Bouchon in Yountville. He spent considerable time learning about Chilean cuisine, refining his skills to bring the fun, healthy menu of Más Masa to Marin County.

Más Masa’s menu includes salads, six entrée options and a few sides and desserts, each with corn as a central ingredient-from hominy in a shaved kale salad, to a corn-based drink to a purple corn panna cotta dessert. The menu focuses on local, nutritious food that celebrates both authentic and modern Latin American cooking while showcasing the abundance of California's delicious, seasonal produce.

Sheehy and his business partner, Will Eoff, met in Chili. While Sheehy runs 'the back of the house', Eoff is the 'face' of Más Masa , interacting with customers and offering samples of their delicious homemade dishes.

Más Masa has a casual, welcoming vibe, pleasant outdoor patio and a handpicked wine and beer selection. that is sure to make it a fast favorite in Fairfax.
