Children's Creativity Museum

The Children's Creativity Museum is set in the heart of Yerba Buena, the cultural epicenter of San Francisco. An interactive, hands-on environment that promotes 21st-Century learning, the museum encourages imagination, invention, engagement, sharing and problem solving in an innovative artistic and technological environment.

The museum focuses on nurturing creativity and collaboration for children of all ages and their families, offering a new and unique experience at every visit. In addition to exhibits and workshops, the Children's Creativity Museum has six studios and labs, all facilitated by skilled artists and educators that guide budding artists through the creative process.

The studios/labs include:

  • Animation Studio
  • Music Studio
  • Innovation Lab
  • Imagination Lab
  • Community/Games Lab
  • Tech Lab

The Animation Studio focuses on learning the basics of stop motion animation by creating their own clay characters and bringing them to life on screen.

The Music Studio offers over 2000 songs that can be performed in front of a green screen either as a solo act or as a group.

In the interactive Imagination Lab, kids of all ages are encouraged to IMAGINE an idea, CREATE something original in the various studio spaces, and SHARE what they’ve created with their friends and families or on display at the museum's Cloud Gallery.

In our Innovation Lab, the Mystery Box Challenge prompts kids to invent something using materials inside the box. The Innovation Lab also hosts workshops with the Bay Area’s most innovative artists, educational game developers, and technologists. With the assistance of these innovators, workshop attendees help design the media tools of the future.

The Tech Lab introduces your child to computer coding in a fun, hands-on way. Activities such as programming robots to navigate a maze, or compose and play music are designed to promote creative problem solving in novice programmers. More experienced coders can program robots to respond to sensor input and use loops to avoid obstacles.

The Community/Game Lab challenges you to a variety of games designed to inspire collaborative learning, build critical thinking skills in addition to instilling the practice of good sportsmanship.

Located at 221 Fourth Street in San Francisco, museum hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Admission is $12 per person, with children under age two are free. Museum memberships are available and allow a family of four free admission for a year.
